Very interesting to read this as a Parisian. Actually, I don’t think tourists get scammed, the prices are the same for everyone, even for us. And unfortunately, you are right, and even as French people, we get poor quality stuff for ridiculous prices, Paris is just way too expensive for what you get. For example, an advice for Paris: for drinks: always get a beer, because you know what you get, for cocktails, they never put enough alcohol in it, and for the wine, it’s better to buy it in a shop.

I fell in love with Paris in 2007 and am still in the honeymoon phase… Obviously, no place is perfect, but it’s about making it work for us. Great that you’re offering some alternative places to check out. Can’t wait to be back in a few weeks.

Hi Christopher, thank you so much for your comment! No, Null is not my last name and yes it is a play like Null&Void as you said. The name of the blog comes from a book by my favorite author Nicolas Bouvier who wrote his diaries from Japan. For him this was a country of an exaggerated tradition and customs but with little inside. For me it also describes my way of travel. I think you need to deal with all issues before you go and do not treat travel as a remedy for all your problems. I never treat travel as an escape and I hate when people do it. I wish you intense travels, especially if there are so few in your life. And enjoy the post processing ;-)

Hi! I found your site today through a comment you made on WanderLearn with Francis Tapon (el Comino Santiago) and I was struck by the name of your site. My last name is Null so it always intrigues me. I wondered if it’s your last name. And if Null & Full is meant as a play on Null & Void which I use in different ways all the time. I’m glad to have found your site. I love to travel. Though unfortunately it’s not often enough. :) Your articles really bring a great taste of the places you visit. Nice work.
