I think we are getting close to a situation where you no longer belong to just one group, but you switch. At least that is what we are doing. Last two years we went traveling to Myanmar and Thailand, with hardly and pre-booking of hotels. But we also went to an all-inclusive hotel in Turkey where we did not leave the premises (no engagement with local culture at all!). And we loved all the different trips.
When looking at the 4 categories, I for sure will never be a drifter. I need a homebase (especially now that we have kids). Traveling is fun, but also the homecoming is part of the thrill to be honest. I think our family relates most to the Explorers. We love to travel slow, get acquainted with local life, but also get back to the safe and known environment of our hotel or guesthouse (important when traveling with kids).
