Königssee: A Marvelous One Day Hike

Königssee: A Marvelous One Day Hike
This was an awesome conclusion of my trekking spring: a one day hike in the German Alps with my friend. Needless to say the weather was marvelous, however, not everything went as smoothly as we planed. The start was pretty comfortable with excellent German facilities namely: parking lot WITH coins exchange (!) and ATM (!) on site! This is only possible in Germany, as far as I’m concerned. Mythical German organization appeared ... Read more

Guest Post: One Day Trekking in the Dolomites

Guest Post: One Day Trekking in the Dolomites
As the spring is coming so soon this year I started to think about the summer holiday. And I was very happy to prepare a short summary of one of the most spectacular hikes in the Dolomites: Via Del Pan. My blogger fellow Freya kindly published it at her travel blog Flashpackinghiker. Reading comments under this post makes me smile! This place is fabulous! And it is also well organized so I can highly recommend it to all hikers and ... Read more

Esther’s previous post on everyday life in NZ is here and a short summary of my first visit in NZ is here. We felt there is much more to talk about so we came with few questions on camping in New Zealand that might be helpful if you think about going there. And so here are 5 ... Read more

Guest Post: A Journey Of Discovery

Guest Post: A Journey Of Discovery
Courtesy of Jeff from EuroTravelogue my guest post about Lapland has been published. Jeff is a huge fan of river cruises in Europe and Scandinavian countries. His blog is full with stunning photos and great stories. I especially enjoyed the one about train ride in Norway. You might think I wrote about Lapland so many times it’s all the same but surprisingly: I prepare a new post from the scratch and it is never the same. I ... Read more

Guest post: Arctic Hike
New Year, new guest post. Courtesy of Jenny who I met in Dublin a post about Lapland has been published just this morning. This is sort of summary and good advices. If you have ever thought about going there you should read it first. Watching the pictures and reading it made me think that I miss Lapland quite badly. So, hopefully I’ll be able to organize a trip this year. Keep your fingers crossed please and visit ... Read more

The Golden Bay

The Golden Bay
Warning: this post is FULL of photos. It’s simply because the Golden Bay area is so beautiful that I find it impossible to describe. Rather, I prefer to show you how does it look like. Golden Bay is a stunning place: the whole area is very much paradise like. White sandy beaches, crystal clear water, deep bush, rich population of seals and penguins, and mild climate. Golden Bay was a perfect place to relax, catch some sun and ... Read more

The Lunar Landscape: Gruppo del Sella

The Lunar Landscape: Gruppo del Sella
The track I’m describing here was done in the second day of our stay in the Dolomites. We started at 9:30 with a ride from Passo Pordoi to Rifugio Maria Sas de Pordoi and we started our walk from there. As the ride with a funicular railway is available to everybody the mountain hut was crowded.   We hurried up and followed the trail to reach another mountain hut in about 20 minutes, passing by an organized group of ... Self-selected Tourism? The Case of the Aran Islands.

Self-selected Tourism? The Case of the Aran Islands.
It’s not easy to come to one of the Aran Islands: Inishmore, Inishmeain or Inisheer. Although all three are well connected with mainland Ireland- as islanders call the rest of their country- the trip is demanding in terms of a mental challenge. The trip made by plane or by ferry still challenges ordinary tourists. I spoke to few locals during my stay on the island and they told me that they are pretty happy about it. What ... Read more

5 Good Reasons Why Coming To The Aran Islands

5 Good Reasons Why Coming To The Aran Islands
My primary motivation of a travel to the Aran Islands was related to the famous book of Nicolas Bouvier Journal d’Aran et d’autres lieux. This exquisite piece of literature made me think about this place and finally find a way to go there. I spent almost a week on the biggest of all islands- Inishmore- and I think I understood why Bouvier came back full of delight. There is something special about this place that ... Read more

My 15 Reasons Why I Do Jogging

My 15 Reasons Why I Do Jogging
I started jogging few years ago and my direct motivation was to prepare myself to a long walk in Lapland. Before I went to Lapland with a full size backpack I knew I need to do something for two reasons: first, to not get abandoned along the track, and second, to make the time spent in the wild enjoyable. Somehow pain related to untrained muscles was enough to convince me about the necessity to do jogging. So this was MY reason why ... Read more
